In game 1 of the championship series, the Oklahoma Sooners beat the Florida Gators 7-5 in 17 innings. The Sooners only hit 2-18 with 2 outs, but in the 17th inning the Sooners hit a 2 out 3 run home run from Shay Knighton to take a 7-4 lead. Florida’s rally in the 17th would fall short, leaving runners on 1st and 2nd. The Gators would pick up 1 run on 3 hits in the 17th inning.

The bats for the Sooners collected 10 hits, led by Shay Knighton, who went 2-7 with a double and a 3 run home run in the 17th. Nicole Mendes went 2-8 with a single and a home run. Fale Aviu went 2-8 with a single and a home run. Sydney Romero went 2-7 with 2 singles. Caleigh Clifton, went 1-7 with a double. Nicole Pendley went 1-6 with a double. The starter for the Sooners was Paige Lowary who went 10 1/3 innings giving up 2 runs on 8 hits. Relief pitcher Paige Parker, went 6 2/3 innings giving up 3 runs on 4 hits.

The pitching for the Gators was great. Delanie Gourley went 8 innings, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits and finished with 13 strikeouts. Kelly Barnhill went 9 innings, giving up 5 runs on 6 hits. Barnhill also finished with 13 strikeouts. The Gator bats gathered 12 hits and were led by Sophia Reynoso who went 3-7 with 2 singles and a double. Justine Mclean went 3-5 with 3 singles. Amanda Lorenz went 2-7 with a single and a double. Nicole Dewitt went 1-7 with a double. Janell Wheaton went 1-6 with a single. Aleshia Ocasio went 1-7 with a single and Lily Mann went 1-2 with a single.
