The USAO Drovers (47-10) opened up the 63rd annual Avista NAIA World Series with the home team Lewis-Clark State College Warriors (35-14-1). The Drovers would jump out to an early lead and wouldn’t look back as they beat the Warriors 6-2.
The Drovers sent the lefty Colton Williams to the mound and he would not disappoint going the distance throwing 9 innings allowing 2 runs on 8 hits with 11 strikeouts and just 2 walks. With the win, Williams improves to 16-0 on the season for USAO.
The Drovers offense would combine for 13 hits, led by P.J. Garcia, 3-5 with 3 singles and 1 RBI. Luis Pelayo was 3-5 with a single and 2 doubles. Ian Laureano went 2-4 with 2 singles. Cristian Laboy went 2-3 with a double and a home run (10). Miguel Lorenzo went 1-4 with a single. Coleton Horner went 1-4 with a single. Elvin Alamo went 1-3 with a double.
The USAO Drovers are set to face St. Thomas University on Monday, May 27 at 9 PM CT at Harris Field in Lewiston, ID.
