The Drovers are just coming off a conference tournament championship win over Oklahoma City 11-8. Just a day later the Drovers found out that they have 8 all-conference player, 2 gold glovers, and the SAC coach of the year.

The Drovers had 4 players named to the SAC 1st team, Sr. Kenniel Rivera (Fort Worth, TX), Jr. P.J. Garcia (Glendale, AZ), Sr. Jose Hidalgo (Tijuana, Mexico), and Jr. Angel Reyes (Bayamo, Puerto Rico). Rivera is hitting .394 with 9 home runs and 59 RBI’s. Last season Rivera was named to the SAC 2nd team all-conference. Garcia is currently hitting. 405 with 7 home runs, and has added 45 RBI’s. Hidalgo is 9-2 on the season with a 2.01 ERA, and has sat down 88 batter via the strikeout. Hidalgo also made the 1st team all-conference team last year. Reyes is currently 4-0 with a 2.93 ERA, and he has accounted for 11 saves on the season.

The Drovers also had 4 player make the SAC 2nd team, Jr. Coleton Horner (Turlock, CA), Jr. Miguel Lorenzo (Boston, MA), Sr. Francis Ventura (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic), and Sr. Tucker White (Sterling, OK). Horner is hitting .391 with 5 home runs, and has put together 36 RBI’s. Lorenzo is currently hitting .379 with 8 home runs, and 41 RBI’s. Ventura is 9-0 with a 4.37 ERA, and finished the regular season with 61 strikeouts. This is Ventura’s 2nd year to make SAC all-conference team. White is sitting at 7-1 with a 3.41 ERA, and has struck out 66 on the season.

The Drovers did get two gold glovers, in Sr. Stevie Thompson (Midwest City, OK) and Jr. Miguel Lorenzo. Thompson is having a great season with the glove, as he has 54 put outs and 0 errors, and he has 3 assists on the season. Lorenzo is having a season to remember with the glove as well, with 42 put outs and a fielding percentage of .939 .

Drover’s head coach Mike Ross was also named SAC coach of the year. Ross has led USAO to a 45-6 record, and the SAC conference tournament title. Ross last won coach of the year in 2013, when the Drovers were 41-19. Ross has kept the Drovers in the top 10 since the begin of the season, and now they are currently ranked 8th in the NAIA. 7651023504_img_0381
