The Chicks traveled to Perkins to take on the Mannford Pirates. In the regional Tournament.
Chickasha’s Magyver Boles would establish his presence down low early in the game, scoring 6 points during the 1st quarter. The Chicks would lose the first quarter scoring 12-10, after 2 three pointers from Daniel Keizor.
After a 3 pointer from Jake Banfield, the Chicks would go on a 9-0 run, which would include a 3 pointer from Brock Henderson. Chickasha would go into the half with a 27-21 lead. After winning the 2nd quarter scoring 17-9. Chickasha’s leading scorer was Magyver Boles, who had 11 points.
The Chicks would open the 3rd period with 2 straight baskets, to put the lead at 31-21. Then towards the middle of the 3rd period the Chicks would go on a 7-2 run, fueled by 3 points from Caleb Ross. The Chicks would end up winning the quarter 21-11, and have a 48-32 lead.
The Pirates would try to cut the deficit, by going on a 10-2 run to make the score 52-41. The Chicks would finish the game on a 8-2 run, to win over the Pirates by a score of 65-49.
Senior Caleb Crowder said “Well coming into this game we knew that they were a “live or die by the 3″ so I think we did a really good job most of the time containing and contesting their shots. Offensively we moved and passed the ball very well and scored a lot off of fast breaks. I think we came in and played like the old us at times and took care of business.”
Player of the game:
Magyver Boles- Boles play a good game, and showed how good he can play in the post. Boles finished with 20 points and 9 rebounds.
What’s next for these teams?
Chickasha- The Chicks will move on to play in the regional championship game against Tulsa Central, this Saturday at 8:00pm
Mannford- The Pirates will play against Newcastle Friday at 3:00pm, the loser will be eliminated.
